Congratulations on being chosen to be an operator. In this book we will:
1. Explain to you what an OP is and what they do.
2. Explain to you what we expect from you as part of our staff and how we expect you to behave and conduct business.
3. Explain to you what is acceptable user behavior and what is not. As well as when you may or may not have the freedom to use your own discretion.
4. Show you how to use the commands that allow you to help keep the chat room a safe place.
Please remember; this is not a game, the abilities at your disposal are not toys they are tools. This is a voluntary position and should be treated as such. We reserve the right to
remove your status with or with out notice for any reason. Which may or may not be disclosed to you or anyone with the exception of head staff.
1: What operators are, what they are not, and what they do.
Operators are people who monitor the chat room.
Operators are NOT "better" than anyone else, and they are NOT above the rules.
Operators are NOT admins and they are NOT IRCops.
Operators help keep the room a safe and family friendly place.
2: What we expect from you, how we expect you to behave and conduct business.
We expect you to handle user/channel conduct according to room rules.
We expect you to obey room rules MORE than we expect users to.
We expect you to [always] warn first and post a link to the rules page.
We expect you to [always] kick second.
We expect you to only ban as a last resort.
We expect you to preview and approve links. You may use your discretion.
We expect you to behave like a Christian, and to help others at your discretion if/when needed.
3: What is acceptable user behavior, what isn't and when you may use your own discretion.

Users in violation of rules 1 and 4 may be kicked and banned without warning. You may NOT use your discretion. Note: Violation is completely unacceptable.
Users posting phone numbers or addresses may be kicked and or banned without warning. You may use your discretion here. Note: Users joking with fake numbers and addresses need to be warned first and banned second.
Users here to advertise may be kicked and or banned without warning. You may use your discretion.
Users are required to ask permission and wait for approval by an OP via private messaging.
Users excessively flooding/spamming should be warned/kicked/warned/banned.
You may NOT warn/kick/ban user(s) for being rude to you or to end a dispute between you and another user(s). Without the exception of blatant harassment/threats. In this case you MUST contact head staff and allow them to deal with it.
You may NOT handle personal situations yourself. You MAY exit chat if you feel the need to until the situation can be accommodated by head staff.
You may NOT warn/kick/ban user(s) for being rude to your friend(s) or to end a dispute between your friend(s) and another user(s). With the exception of blatant harassment/threats.
You may NOT dispute or argue with staff. If you feel something was done unfairly you MAY make a formal complaint via the form on the rules page. Or take the issue to head staff. In which case it will be reviewed and may or may not be addressed.
4: Commands.
For this demonstration I will be using the nickname and address as follows: BobsYourUncle~Bob@JesusRocksOnIrc-IPmask.address.host.net
To kick BobsYourUncle you would type:
/kick #roomname BobsYourUncle optional reason
To ban BobsYourUncle while they are still in the room you would type:
/ban #roomname BobsYourUncle optional reason
To ban BobsYourUncle after they have left the channel/server you would type the following:
/ban #roomname *@JesusRocksOnIrc-IPmask.address.host.net optional reason
To automatically kick and ban BobsYourUncle you would type:
!kb BobsYourUncle optional reason
NOTES: Replace "#roomname" with the name of the room for example #jroi.
Replace "BobsYourUncle" with the nickname of the person you need To kick/ban.
Replace "optional reason" with a reason of your own if you wish.
Replace "@JesusRocksOnIrc-IPmask.address.host.net" with the
Personal mask of whom you need to ban.
Commands are not toys, staff treating them like they are by Kicking/banning their friends or themselves are subject to be removed without warning. Please understand this is not a game. The staff is not here for themselves, they are here to help. If you feel it is too much of a responsibility for you, please contact head staff and request your status to be removed. There are times when it can become really stressful It's not all fun and games.
