Look at the world today. Look at what we are going through. There is too much pain and suffering in the world that we end up losing our faith in God. This is indeed a difficult subject that I myself have not dealt with in the past.
Sometimes, I question God about everything. Why do bad things happen to good people? Why did my grandfather have to die? Have you neglected us? These may be harsh but these words escaped from my mouth when I got so disappointed with God.
There was a time when I found myself drowning in anger but I managed to cope with this. Maybe you can too. Read the tips below and give them a try:
1 Relay your stories (could be stories of struggles, pain, loss) to God. Know that He does not want to harm you or cause you pain. He has been waiting for you to come to Him.
2 Pray that He helps you restore your faith in Him.
3 Instead of being ego-centric, join causes or help those who need are in need of your help. You can join soup kitchens, volunteer at shelters, shell out money for fund raisers, or donate your old but usable things. Doing all these will help you realize that life is not that bad at all. You will also get to realize that there are people who are carrying a heavier burden than you.
4 Read the bible (or your religion’s holy book). Look for passages that will remind you of God’s nature. Tell yourself that God never changed. It’s your faith that changed and not God. This can help you recognize the reason or reasons why you have lost faith in God.
Read the bible day to day to restore your faith in Him. His words and inspiring messages will help you enlighten and uplift your spirit. Pray after you read. You can invite a friend or family member to join you.
5 Do not let yourself feel that you are alone because you are not. Our Almighty and forgiving is always with you.
6 Acknowledge the fact that tough times are inevitable. No one goes through life without hardships. Sooner or later, we will all experience trials and struggles that will eventually mold us into better and stronger persons.
Remember that God does not give what you cannot carry. Think of your suffering as compliment. It means that God trusts that you can handle it. Also, surpassing the storm will be much easier if you put your faith in Him.
7 Talk to your family or close friend who share the same religion with you. They can help you pray away the doubts and help you perceive God’s kindness and mercy.
8 You can join a bible study class to help you meet other people who are feeling the same way. You can help him or her recover (or you can help each other renew your faith).
9 Look for inspiration. You can always find your dose of happiness everywhere in the world. Let a happy and healthy child inspire you. Or a blooming flower to marvel at God’s wonders and creations.
With God, I am sure that you can handle everything that life throws at you. Good luck and take care.
